finding a facelift surgeon

"Bargain shopping" can be tempting to a patient wishing to get a facelift for less, but the increased chance of risk complications alone should convince a patient to properly and carefully research and choose the most qualified plastic surgeon. In addition to risking your life for a cosmetic procedure when visiting an under qualified surgeon, you are also trading the experience necessary to achieve optimal aesthetic results, a reason for cosmetic surgery to begin with.

Facelift News

Cosmetic surgery has found itself in the news more and more as improvements in surgical techniques and a growing acceptance of the procedures have allowed a more openness and less of a stigma amongst Americans. A survey conducted found four out of five American women would not be embarrassed if people knew they had plastic surgery, showing a major shift in public opinion towards cosmetic procedures including facelifts • read more

Ideal Facelift Candidate

An ideal candidate for any type of plastic surgery, including a facelift, understands the limitations the surgical procedure has. The facelift candidate should understand why they wish to have a facelift, what their goals are, and what they expect the final outcome of the facelift surgery to be. An individual who is unrealistic about the expectations they think they can attain through a facelift or who lack a strong self-image is not an ideal candidate for a facelift. Someone who has just had a major life crisis or transition is also not a good facelift candidate because the individual may be trying to overcome or move on with a certain aspect of their life through the means of altering their physical appearance.

The majority of ideal facelift patients has a strong self-image but possesses a physical trait or characteristic that they wish to improve. Some people have been born with some type of a physical defect that has increasingly made the patient more and more self-conscious and can start to affect a healthy self-image over time. Getting a facelift can sometimes dramatically improve the way an individual feels. Common motivations for facelifts are:

  • To look as young on the outside as an individual may feel.
  • Wishing to maintain a young and healthy appearance, often times motivated by one's profession.
  • Unhappy with loose skin, wrinkles, excess fatty tissue, a loss of defined jaw line, or has developed a deep line running from the corner of their nose to the corner of their mouth.

It has been shown that any cosmetic surgery candidates that have undergone procedures for the purposes of doing it for someone else end up feeling much greater levels of disappointment and dissatisfied with the results. Although certain plastic surgery procedures, including a facelift, can greatly improve one's self-image, it should not be used strictly for those intentions. When used properly, a facelift can encourage a stronger self-image by allowing a small change on the outside to drastically change how an individual feels on the inside.

Why to consider a facelift

As people age, the natural aging process, in combination with a lot of other factors like previous sun exposure, smoking, environmental influence, and other things can speed up the aging process that shows in the form of sagging skin and wrinkles. To restore the appearance of youth, some people opt to undergo the cosmetic surgical procedure called a facelift. For people with deep wrinkles, loose skin, excess fatty tissue in the neck area, the loss of a defined jaw line, or the deep line running from the corner of the nose to the corners of the mouth, a facelift can drastically improve the appearance by smoothing out the skin and the fatty deposits in certain areas of the face and neck.
